Rental FAQs

How old do I have to be to hire?

You need to be at least 25 years old with a minimum of 2 years driving experience.

We can hire to drivers up to 75 years old.

Can I rent with penalty points on my Driving Licence?

Up to 6 points for speeding offences only is fine.

We can’t hire if you have over 6 points, or any major endorsements within 5 years – even if the points have expired.
If in doubt, please give us a call and we can check for you.

What documents do I need to bring with me?

Please bring your:

  1. Driving License (Physical, photos/copies not accepted.)
  2. NI Number / DVLA Check Code
  3. Proof of Address (i.e. Bank Statement / Utility Bill – paper or digital documents are accepted.)
  4. Payment Card (We need the card number, so if you can provide this on your banking app then this is also fine.)

Do I need a special Driving Licence to hire a large van?

All of our vans are under 3.5 Tonne capacity and can be driven on a regular licence (Category B on the back of your license).

Can I park my car on-site?

Unfortunately, we don’t have space for customer parking on-site.

If possible, we recommend being dropped off when collecting your rental.

If you do need to bring your car, we recommend parking on Beatrice Street, where there are currently no parking restrictions.

Can I return my rental out-of-hours?

Yes, you can return your vehicle 24/7.

If we’re closed, please park on the gravel area on the right as you pull in.
Please park efficiently to ensure plenty of space for other returns – it’s fine to block any vehicles already there.

Then just pop the keys in the secure key drop-box by our front door.

You’ll receive a check-in confirmation normally within 12 hours.

Note that our site has full CCTV coverage!

Is there a mileage limit?

Our vans have unlimited mileage!

Our cars are limited to 200 miles for the first day of hire, plus 50 miles for each additional day.

Excess mileage is charged at £0.20 per mile.

do i need to pay a deposit?

A £250 security deposit is required for all van rentals.

You can reduce this to £0 by adding our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), available for £14.95 per day.

CDW can be added when booking online, over the phone, or when you collect your vehicle.

Please note: All car rentals require a £250 security deposit, even if CDW is purchased.

Do you provide insurance?

Yes. All of our rental vehicles are fully insured.

The standard insurance excess is £2,000. This is the maximum you would be responsible for paying in the event of damage or an incident.

You can reduce the excess to £350 by adding our Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) for £14.95 per day.

Please note: Damage to tyres and glass is not covered by our insurance or the CDW.

Can i take my rental abroad?

Yes – our vans can be taken to Europe with prior approval.

An additional charge applies, which we’ll quote based on your trip. Please give us a call to discuss your travel plans before booking.

Please note: Our cars cannot be taken abroad.

If you need extra seats for a European road trip, our 6-Seat Crew Van is a popular choice.

i haven't received my deposit back?

In almost all cases, deposits are refunded on the same day as return, or next day if dropped out of hours.

It can then take up to 5 full working days for your bank or credit card to process this refund into your account.

Example:

  1. Rental returned on Sunday evening.
  2. Deposit refunded Monday morning.
  3. It can take until the end of the following Monday for this to be processed by your bank.

Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to speed up this process.

Can I extend my rental?

In most cases, yes. We’re usually able to extend your rental, subject to vehicle availability.

Please call us during office hours as soon as possible to arrange and pay for an extension.

Please note: You must not keep the vehicle beyond your agreed return date without our permission, as it may already be booked for another customer. Penalties apply for late vehicle return.

Do you provide breakdown cover?

Yes. All of our vehicles include complimentary breakdown cover.

In the unlikely event of a breakdown, please call the number printed on the tag attached to your vehicle key.

The same number can also be found on your rental agreement, which was emailed to you when your hire began.

Our breakdown service is provided at no extra cost and is handled by either the vehicle manufacturer or the AA, depending on the vehicle.

Please note: If you get a puncture during your hire, the breakdown service will assist you, but you will be responsible for the cost of replacing the tyre.

What payment methods are accepted?

We accept card only.

We need your physical card as we don’t accept contactless, our rental processes require your card number.

In no circumstance are we able to accept cash.
